Kyrgyzstan becomes a member of the UN Security Council for the first time

The United Nations Press Office announced that Kyrgyzstan was elected to the UN Security Council for the first time by the vote of the organization’s General Assembly for the two-year term of 2027-2028.

According to reports, Kyrgyzstan was able to gain the necessary support in four rounds of voting, competing with the Philippines.

In the fourth round of voting, Kyrgyzstan received 142 positive votes and the Philippines 49 votes, thus securing this important international seat.
