Moldovan President Maia Sandu called the issuance of visas to the delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan “shameful” and said that the trip was carried out due to the ignorance of some government officials about the country’s policy towards the Islamic Emirate.
In an interview with Journal TV, Sandu said that a deputy minister of the Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture had not reviewed the country’s government’s policy towards the Islamic Emirate before requesting the visa, and that Foreign Ministry officials had assumed that the request had already been approved due to the high-ranking position of the applicant.
The Moldovan president called for disciplinary action against those responsible for this decision and said the government would deal with the responsible officials to prevent such cases from recurring.
Previously, Vasile Sarban, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Moldova, had said that the Afghan delegation’s visit was at the request of an agricultural company in the country, a company that intends to expand the market for its products in Afghanistan.
The delegation, led by Prime Minister Osmani, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, traveled to Moldova.
