Trump calls Venezuela “the 51st state of the United States”

United States President Donald Trump posted an image on the social media platform Truth Social, depicting a map of Venezuela with the American flag and calling it the “fifty-first state of the United States.”

Trump’s move has been met with a reaction from Venezuelan officials. Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodriguez has said that her country has never considered joining the United States as the 51st state.

He stressed that the Venezuelan people are proud of their independence and national heroes, and that such an issue has never been up for discussion.
