Iran and US sign memorandum of understanding, beginning a new phase of negotiations after years of tension

American media have published images of the moment US President Donald Trump signed the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States. After leaving the Palace of Versailles and finishing his dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump told reporters that he had signed the memorandum of understanding to end the war with Iran.

At the same time, images of the signing of this memorandum by Iranian President Masoud Peshkeskian have been released. According to reports, this agreement was signed electronically between the two parties and was implemented immediately.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif welcomed the agreement, calling it a historic achievement and announcing that the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” was signed with the aim of diplomatically resolving the differences between Tehran and Washington.

According to the Pakistani Prime Minister, based on the initial provisions of this memorandum, the Islamic Republic of Iran will open the Strait of Hormuz and the United States will begin the process of lifting the naval blockade.

He also added that the official ceremony for this agreement will be held on Friday in Geneva, Switzerland, with the presence of officials from both countries and international mediators, and technical negotiations to reach a final agreement will also begin.
