The US President announced that Washington has decided to temporarily suspend the “Project Freedom” process of escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz to allow for the finalization and signing of an agreement with Iran.
Donald Trump wrote on the social network “Truth Social” that despite the ongoing blockade, this decision was made after significant progress was made towards reaching a full and final agreement with Iranian representatives.
He added that this temporary withdrawal was made at the request of Pakistan and some other countries.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also emphasized that the United States is the only country capable of opening the Strait of Hormuz, and the main goal is to restore the status of this vital passage to its previous state.
Rubio also called on Iran to return to the negotiating table and make a rational decision.
