Pakistan opens 6 land ports to Iran, changes in trade routes

Based on Pakistani media reports, Islamabad announced that it has activated six land ports for the transfer of goods to Iran and that routes have been created from Karachi and Gwadar to the Kabad and Taftan borders.

According to reports, more than 3,000 containers that were stopped in the Strait of Hormuz due to restrictions have now been moved via land routes.

This move is not only considered a commercial development, but also a strategic shift in the region’s transit routes.

While a naval blockade can control waterways, land routes have been activated as an alternative option for transporting goods, machinery, and cargo from third countries to Iran.

However, restrictions on oil exports remain in place, but a new path has been created to ease economic pressures.
