Diplomatic tension between Germany and Georgia ends with acceptance of ambassador’s credentials

After months of political tension, the Georgian ambassador to Berlin finally presented his credentials to the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, a move that ended the diplomatic crisis between the two countries.

According to reports, the delay in accepting the credentials was due to political differences and the German Foreign Ministry’s position towards the current Georgian government.

Paata Zakharishvili, former Minister of Reconciliation and Civil Equality of Georgia, also stated that the current government of the country no longer has much interest in membership in the European Union and that Germany continues to play a central role in the policies of the union.
