India approves $25 billion for S-400 missile transport aircraft and combat drones
India’s Defense Ministry announced that proposals worth $25 billion have been approved for the purchase of transport aircraft, Russian S-400 missile systems, and combat drones.
These approvals include the purchase of anti-armor ammunition, artillery systems, air surveillance systems, extending the life of Sukhoi-30 fighter jets, and the purchase of airborne ships for the Coast Guard.
A $47 million contract has also been signed with the Russian company JSC Rosoboronexport to purchase Tunguska air defense missile systems.
India approved 55 proposals worth $71 billion and signed another 503 contracts worth 2.28 trillion rupees in the fiscal year ending March 31, the country’s highest defense budget in a single fiscal year.
