Lashkar-e-Taiba claims responsibility for New Delhi blast in response to Hindu extremist attacks in Kashmir

The Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) claimed responsibility for a car bomb blast in New Delhi’s Red Fort tourist area on Sunday that left at least eight dead and 24 wounded.

The group’s statement, published on social media, emphasized that the attack was a response to the attack by extremist Hindus on the Bilal Mosque in Kashmir.

The blast occurred in the heart of India’s political center, despite tight security measures and monitoring of the movements of Kashmiri and Pakistan-affiliated armed groups, and is seen as a major strategic setback for the Narendra Modi government.

Indian authorities have launched an investigation under the Anti-Terrorism Act and are looking into a viral post on Telegram and social media that attributes responsibility to LeT.

It is worth noting that this event has greatly increased regional tensions between India and Pakistan.
