EU donates an additional one million euros for health services in Afghanistan
The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that the European Union has allocated an additional €1 million of its humanitarian aid to support health services in Afghanistan.
According to a WHO press release, this additional funding will help the organization expand its emergency health response, focusing on providing life-saving services to vulnerable communities and returnees across the country.
This contribution brings the total EU support to WHO since May 2025 to seven million euros.
According to the report, 14.3 million people in Afghanistan have limited access to essential care due to inadequate services, closed health centers, and a shortage of female staff.
Edwin Ceneza Salvador, WHO Representative in Afghanistan, said this additional assistance from the European Union ensures that no one is left behind, even in the most remote or crisis-affected areas; it reinforces the principle of access to health as a right.
