Intense clashes in Yemen; 129 people killed in Yemeni Ansarullah movement operation on the Red Sea coast
Following the extensive operations of the Yemeni Ansarullah movement in coastal areas aimed at confronting the positions of the Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and advancing towards the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait, the death toll in the clashes has reached 129.
The clashes began on Thursday after the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement launched ground operations and rocket and drone attacks near the coastal areas. Ansar Allah is pursuing these actions within the framework of its position in support of Palestine and confronting regional threats.
Military sources told AFP that the aim of the operation is to cut off the Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council’s (PLC) route to the port of Mocha and advance to areas near the Bab al-Mandab, one of the world’s most important shipping lanes.
According to military sources and local officials, the Ansarullah movement has taken control of a number of high positions overlooking the positions of Saudi-backed forces near the Red Sea and the city of Taiz.
According to statistics compiled by AFP, 66 members of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and at least 62 members of the Yemeni Ansarullah movement have been killed in these clashes, and one civilian has also been martyred.
The Ansarullah movement controls the port city of Hodeidah, but the areas around the Bab al-Mandab Strait are still not under its control. The movement is trying to expand its sphere of influence to this strategic port.
