3 Qatari diplomats killed in driving accident near Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt
Egyptian security sources reported that three Qatari diplomats were killed and two others were injured in a fatal driving accident about 50 kilometers from Sharm El Sheikh.
The incident occurred when a vehicle carrying Qatari diplomats overturned on a bend in the road.
According to officials, the deceased diplomats were from the Qatari mediation team and had traveled to Egypt to participate in mediation talks between Hamas and the Israeli regime.
The talks, which were held in Sharm el-Sheikh with the participation of Qatari, Egyptian and Turkish officials, led to an agreement on the first part of US President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza, which includes a ceasefire and the release of Palestinian hostages and prisoners.
The Qatari embassy in Egypt confirmed the news and announced that the victims were employees of the Emir of Qatar’s court.
The incident came just a day before a global summit in Sharm el-Sheikh to finalize a Gaza peace deal, which will be attended by international leaders including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
