Unprecedented torture of Palestinians in Israeli prisons, from dog attacks to force-feeding alcohol
The Palestinian Prisoners Association and the Prisoners Affairs Commission reported in a joint statement the severe torture and mistreatment of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.
These legal institutions announced that Gaza detainees have faced measures such as severe beatings, force-feeding of alcohol, scalding with boiling water, and even attacks by dogs.
According to reports collected during visits this month to the prisons of Katsiyot Ofer, Seddi Timan, and the Russian Compound in Jerusalem, these institutions have documented disturbing evidence of unprecedented levels of violence and torture during the detention and interrogation of Palestinians.
The statement from these institutions said: “These actions represent a clear violation of human rights and an unprecedented level of torture in Israeli prisons.”
The two legal entities warned that some detainees have lost their lives as a result of these inhumane mistreatments.
They have called on the international community to conduct an urgent international investigation to investigate these crimes and hold Israel accountable.
