In response to Trump’s tariffs, China retaliated by imposing tariffs on American goods

Trump’s additional 10 percent tariff on all Chinese imports to the United States was implemented at 12:01 a.m. today (Tuesday 4th of February), within minutes, the Chinese Ministry of Finance announced a 15 percent tariff on coal, natural gas, and 10% will be imposed on crude oil for agricultural machinery and some American cars.

Also, this ministry added that the application of new tariffs on US exports will begin on February 10.

Separately, China’s Ministry of Commerce and its Customs Administration said the country is imposing export controls on “tungsten, ruthenium ruthenium molybdenum tellurium and ruthenium-related items” to “protect national security interests,” Reuters reported.

Based on the Reuters report, an official from the Chinese embassy in Washington said that the trade war between the two countries has no winners and is not in the interests of either.
