Israeli Supreme Court rules government failed to provide adequate food to Palestinian prisoners

In a rare ruling against the government’s actions during the Gaza war, the Israeli Supreme Court declared that Israeli authorities did not provide enough food for Palestinian prisoners to survive.

The court ordered the government to improve the nutritional status of these prisoners.

The decision was issued following protests and reports of inhumane conditions of detention of Palestinian prisoners, including intentional starvation and deprivation of basic necessities.

According to Al Jazeera, human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have repeatedly warned about violations of prisoners’ rights in Israeli prisons.

This ruling was issued at a time when the ongoing war in Gaza and Israel’s actions against the Palestinians continue to attract widespread international criticism.
