Joe Kent, former director of the US Counterterrorism Center, wrote in a message to Donald Trump: “Unfortunately, leaving NATO will not be enough to avoid foreign conflicts. We will leave NATO so that when Turkey and Israel finally clash in Syria, we can stand with Israel.”
He added that it is time to stop playing the role of both arsonist and firefighter in the Middle East. It is really not worth it.
This prediction comes at a time when Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had previously warned that after Iran, Israel cannot live without an enemy. We see that Netanyahu is seeking to declare Turkey as a new enemy.
Fidan added that Israel is not taking any specific actions against Syria due to the ongoing war in Iran, but that does not mean that it will not happen; it will do so when the time comes.
