China expanded flood compensation plans

The Chinese government has introduced new economic protection measures to support people affected by flood control schemes.

According to the Reuters report, with the increase of heavy rains, China is increasingly using the areas along the rivers to divert the floods.

These areas, some of which include agricultural fields and even residential houses, have caused social tensions.

According to the revised rules published on Friday, China’s central government has pledged to provide 70 percent of the compensation budget, and the rest will be borne by local governments.

This plan includes direct compensation to farmers and other people affected by the diversion of flood waters.

This action is carried out in order to better manage floods and reduce the destructive effects of heavy rains in the downstream areas.
