US renews license to buy Russian oil for second time

CBS News reported that the US Treasury Department has given the green light for the purchase of Russian oil currently at sea for the second time since the Iran war began.

According to the report, the Donald Trump administration is facing limited oil markets, and this license allows buyers to avoid many of the heavy US sanctions against Russia.

The US Treasury Department has extended a waiver that allows countries to buy sanctioned Russian oil by sea for about a month.

The purpose of this extension is to increase oil supply due to global disruption caused by the war against Iran.

According to an announcement by the US Treasury Department, permission to purchase Russian oil loaded on ships has been extended until May 16 of this year.
