In an interview with Al-Mayadeen, a senior Iranian security source called reports published by Western media about negotiations between Iran and the United States “lies” and said that Tehran has communicated its seven conditions to the American side and now the ball is in America’s court.
Regarding the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz, this source also claimed that the reason for this is “the Americans’ failure to implement their commitments;” he emphasized that the situation in the strait will not change with tweets, media reports, or pressure.
These statements come amid recent reports of indirect contacts between Iran and the United States on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Various sources have said that the two sides have exchanged positions and proposals through mediators, although there is disagreement about whether these contacts are considered official negotiations.
