The Russian presidential election will be held under the supervision of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

At the same time as the tensions between Russia and the West continue over Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and three other candidates are preparing for the presidential elections of this country on 15_17 March.

The Central Election Commission of Russia has announced Vladimir Putin as an independent candidate, Leonid Slatsky from the Liberal Democratic Party, Vladislav Davankov from the New People’s Party and Nikolai Kharitonov from the Communist Party as the final four candidates.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko announced last week that following the meeting of the working group “Russia and the Islamic World”, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will send its observers to monitor the Russian presidential elections.

This decision was taken following the meeting of the working group of Russia and the Islamic world between the representatives of Moscow and the ambassadors of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
