David Petraeus, former commander of CENTCOM and former director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has said that following the conflict with Iran, former US bases in the Middle East are no longer usable.
Asked about Iran’s remaining military capabilities, Petraeus said the main concern was a combination of missiles, drones, and Iran’s ability to target shipping and energy infrastructure.
He added that Iran now has a larger number of drones and missiles with the range necessary to target US facilities, inflict casualties on US forces, and damage critical energy infrastructure.
Petraeus’s statements come as recent reports have reported extensive damage to some US facilities and bases in the region during the war with Iran.
