Haaretz newspaper reported that the Israeli Supreme Court, in reviewing an appeal against the arrest of Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Gaza Strip, claimed that classified intelligence documents confirm his activity in Hamas and participation in armed activities.
Based on this claim, this Israeli judicial authority has agreed to continue the detention of Dr. Abu Safiya, while a number of human rights organizations had previously expressed concern about his detention and health condition.
Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya was arrested after the Israeli forces attacked Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza and remains in captivity.
