Putin : About 6,500 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory since the beginning of this year
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that since the beginning of this year, Russian forces have seized about 6,500 square kilometers of land and 310 residential areas.
According to Putin, slightly more than 10 percent of the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic and nearly 16 percent of the Zaporizhia region are now under Ukrainian control; he has also claimed that the Luhansk region is fully under the control of Russian forces.
Putin called the capture of the city of Dobropilia an important event and said that this advance paves the way for Russian forces to reach the borders of the Donetsk People’s Republic. He also announced an increase in the speed of the advance of Russian forces on the war fronts.
During a visit to the headquarters of the country’s joint command, the Russian president emphasized that Moscow will continue to advance in Donetsk and will work to create a security zone along the border, an area that he said cannot be ignored in any future negotiations.
