First case of Ebola virus identified in France
The French Ministry of Public Health has announced that the first case of Ebola virus infection has been identified in the country.
According to reports, the infected person is a doctor who had returned to France after a humanitarian mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and tests have confirmed that he is infected with Ebola.
French health authorities have begun quarantine measures and tracing people who have come into contact with the patient, stressing that the risk of widespread spread of the disease in the country is assessed as low.
The incident comes as the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to spread, raising international concern.
The Ebola virus is a severe and sometimes fatal disease that is transmitted through direct contact with the blood and body fluids of infected people or animals.
