Thousands of protesters in Berlin demand German Chancellor’s resignation

Thousands of people gathered in the center of Berlin, the capital of Germany, yesterday, demanding the resignation of Chancellor Friedrich Mertz.

Protesters at this gathering expressed their dissatisfaction with the government’s performance by chanting slogans against the government and its immigration policies.

German police have put the number of participants at around 4,000, while the organizers of the rally claim that nearly 10,000 people attended.

Security officials said that about 700 police officers were deployed to provide security and monitor the rally, which was largely peaceful.

Holding German flags and placards with slogans such as “The government must resign,” “Mertz must go,” and “He is not my chancellor,” the protesters criticized the government’s policies, reform programs, and taxes related to climate change.
