Official start of negotiations for Ukraine and Moldova’s accession to the European Union
The Council of the European Union has officially launched the preparatory process for the start of accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova.
The TASS news agency reported that the Cyprus presidency of the Council of the European Union has announced the start of preparations for the opening of the first phase of accession negotiations between the two countries.
According to the report, membership negotiations may begin on June 15 during the Intergovernmental Conference on EU Enlargement in Luxembourg.
The goal of these negotiations is to harmonize the laws and regulations of candidate countries with the standards and laws of the European Union.
