The European Union has appointed Italian diplomat Nicola Bellomo as its new head of mission in Afghanistan.
According to European sources, Bilomo is currently the head of the European Union’s African Affairs Department and previously served as the EU’s ambassador to Rwanda.
It has been emphasized that his final appointment to this position will take place after the approval of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the completion of the relevant administrative procedures.
This action was taken within the framework of the European Union’s continued diplomatic engagement with Afghanistan.
