Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has announced that a US air base identified as the origin of the attack was targeted following the US military’s attack on a point on the outskirts of Bandar Abbas airfield on Thursday morning.
At the same time, news sources have reported clashes and exchanges of fire between Iranian and American forces in eastern Hormozgan and around the Strait of Hormuz.
According to these reports, several American vessels attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without coordination, but were met with a response from Iranian naval forces and retreated.
In the wake of these tensions, the United States targeted an Iranian military base and accepted responsibility for it, but the US military has claimed that it does not consider the conflict a violation of the current ceasefire.
