The Los Angeles Post reported that the Iran war has deepened the rift between the United States and its European allies and challenged mutual trust in the relationship between the two sides.
According to the report, unlike the Iraq War in 2003, when Washington struggled to gain the support of allies, the Trump administration in 2026 sees NATO member countries more as logistical infrastructure than real partners in strategic decision-making.
The report adds that European countries have concluded that they can no longer rely on Washington’s consent and support because the United States is acting against Europe’s declared economic and political interests.
According to the Los Angeles Post, the Iran war has reinforced the belief among European countries that Washington is not a reliable partner for Europe’s strategic future.
