FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that the Iranian national team will definitely participate in the World Cup in the United States, despite the current tensions.
Infantino said: “The Iranian team will definitely come; they represent their people, they have obtained the permit to attend and the players want to play.”
He expressed hope that by the time the competitions are held, the situation in the region will move towards peace and that suitable conditions will be provided for the participation of all teams.
These statements come after Iran’s request to move its games from the United States to Mexico was previously rejected due to technical and logistical problems.
The United States, Canada, and Mexico are set to host the next World Cup, and the Iranian team will play two group stage games in California and one game in Seattle.
