Iran-US talks in Islamabad ended without results and deep disagreements

Iranian media reporters reported from the negotiations that the talks between the Iranian and American teams ended an hour ago and that the two sides have not reached any agreement due to America’s excessive demands and ambitions. The following is a summary of what happened in Islamabad.

The Iranian team, headed by Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and attended by Seyyed Abbas Araqchi and Ali Baqeri, arrived in Islamabad late on the night of 10th of Amal and then met at least twice with Pakistani Army Commander Asim Munir and once with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to make the necessary arrangements and protest the US’s breach of promise.

The talks with the Pakistani Prime Minister began at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, and negotiations with the American side began a few hours later. First, the main delegations and then the expert teams held talks with each other, and these negotiations lasted a total of more than 21 hours.

Iran presented several initiatives during the talks and tried to invite the American side to be realistic, but American overreach prevented the achievement of a common framework at each round.

After Pakistan’s efforts and mediation to hold another round of talks and exchange of texts, which began at dawn today, March 12, the talks ended without any results and due to the continued adherence to the same American approach.

It is worth noting that no plans have been announced yet for the time, place, and next round of negotiations.
