The United Nations Security Council will hold a special meeting on Afghanistan today, Monday , in which some regional countries will also be present.
Georgette Kanyon, the Acting Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), will present a comprehensive report on UNAMA’s activities and the political, economic and human rights situation in Afghanistan, based on the report of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
This meeting is being held at a time when border tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan continue and the humanitarian and security situation in the country is facing serious challenges.
