Australia pledges $50 million in new humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

The Australian government announced that it will allocate an additional $50 million in humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

Australian Minister for International Development Anne Alley said in this regard that this assistance is being provided to address the urgent needs of the Afghan people.

Including this new contribution, Australia’s total humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan over the past four years has reached $310 million.

According to the Australian government, this assistance focuses on supporting women and girls, prioritizing food security and providing health services.

This aid will be distributed to those in need in the country through reputable UN partners, including the World Food Program (WFP) and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

This action comes at a time when millions of people are in need of urgent food, medical, and support assistance.
