Severe flooding has hit parts of Nagoya, Japan, following unprecedented rainfall, with local authorities issuing the highest level of alert, Level 5.
The Japan Meteorological Agency announced that 104.5 millimeters of rain fell in Nagoya in one hour, the highest amount recorded in the city’s history.
Heavy rainfall has caused widespread flooding of sidewalks and increased the risk of lake overflows, and residents of at-risk areas have been urged to immediately seek shelter in safe, high places.
