Iranian airspace reopens after temporary closure, flights to Tehran resume
According to flight tracking website FlightRadar24, Iran temporarily closed its airspace (Tehran Flight Information Zone – OIIX) to most flights, allowing only international flights with special permission from the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization to enter and exit.
The restriction, which began at around 10:15 UTC (equivalent to around 1:45 AM local time in Tehran), was in effect for more than two hours until around 00:30 UTC. The official reason for it was not announced, but it occurred in the context of ongoing tensions with the United States and domestic protests.
FlightRadar24 reported that during the closure, Iranian airspace was almost empty of civilian aircraft, with many transit flights diverting to southern Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
After the announced period expired and the Notice of Arrival (NOTAM) was removed, Iranian airspace was reopened by authorities and flights resumed, especially to Tehran.
