The Russian Ministry of Defense announced in its daily report that the country’s air system succeeded in intercepting and destroying 59 Ukrainian suicide drones over various regions of Russian territory during the night of January 9-10, 2026.
According to an official statement from the Ministry of Defense, these drones were targeted in several areas, including the border and central provinces, and all of them were destroyed before reaching their potential targets.
The widespread drone attack was one of the largest attempts by Ukraine to target Russian territory in recent months. The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that no significant damage to life or infrastructure had been reported following the attacks.
The incident comes as tensions between Moscow and Kiev remain high, with both sides continuing to use drones and missiles in reciprocal operations.
