10 Afghans citizens killed by Iranian border guards in Farah
The press office of the Farah Police Headquarters announced that last night, Monday, at least 10 young Afghans were killed by direct fire from Iranian border guards at the “Mile 78” border point and the Sheikh Abu Nasr port of Farah while attempting to illegally cross into Iranian territory.
Mohammad Nasim Badri, press officer for the Farah Police Headquarters, said that these individuals were residents of the same province and had entered Iranian territory illegally for work purposes when they were targeted by Iranian border forces.
According to the announcement, two other people are also missing in this incident and there is no information about their fate.
The press office of the Farah Police Headquarters called the incident a “reminder of the serious dangers of illegal border crossings” and urged citizens to use legal routes to travel and work in neighboring countries.
So far, Iranian authorities have not reacted to this incident.
This comes despite the fact that in recent months, numerous reports have been published of Afghan refugees being killed and injured by Iranian border forces.
