The Universe is getting colder. The Euclid telescope confirms the end of the peak of star formation.

The European Space Agency’s Euclid Space Telescope, in collaboration with the Herschel Telescope, has conducted the most comprehensive temperature measurement in the history of the universe, confirming that the peak of star formation in the universe has ended and that the universe will gradually cool down from now on.

By analyzing the heat emitted by stardust in more than 2.6 million galaxies, researchers have concluded conclusively that the rate of star formation in the universe has decreased significantly.

Euclid, which is on a mission to create the largest 3D map of the world, announced the finding as one of its first scientific results.

This fact, although bitter, is consistent with theoretical predictions and indicates that the universe is entering a calmer and colder phase after billions of years of intense star formation activity.
