Afghan Consulate in Bonn, Germany Kabul resumes operations
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan announced that the country’s consulate in Bonn, Germany, will resume its activities starting today, Monday after a suspension of about a month.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ press release states that from now on, Afghan citizens and other clients can book appointments online to carry out consular affairs and visit the consulate.
The ministry added that passport issuance services will also be launched at the Bonn consulate in the near future.
The consulate’s activities were suspended about a month ago after the mass resignation of diplomats from the previous administration.
After that, the German government granted official credentials to the new diplomats of the Islamic Emirate in Bonn and Berlin, paving the way for the resumption of consular services.
This move could provide more facilities for thousands of Afghan citizens living in Germany and is a step towards normalizing diplomatic relations between Kabul and Berlin.
