Trump threatens Nigeria with military attack; US Secretary of War says we are ready for action

In a post on the social network Truth Social, US President Donald Trump threatened the Nigerian government for failing to confront the killings of Christians and spoke of the possibility of direct military intervention.

Trump wrote: “If the Nigerian government does not take action against the killing of Christians, Washington will immediately stop all aid provided to it.”

He raised the threat level, adding: “The US may enter Nigeria with full force and I have ordered the Ministry of War to prepare for any possible operation.”

“Trump emphasized that we may go into Nigeria with force to eliminate the Islamic terrorists who are committing these terrible crimes.”

Meanwhile, US Secretary of War Beth Hexath announced in a post on X-Net that her department was preparing for military operations.

“The killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria and elsewhere must stop immediately,” he wrote

Hext added: “The Department of War is ready to take action. Either the Nigerian government protects Christians or we will take action against the Islamist terrorists who are committing these terrible atrocities.”

These statements come as sectarian violence in Nigeria, especially attacks by extremist groups on Christian communities, has intensified in recent months.
