Ben-Gwer again threatens Netanyahu with resignation over Hamas’ survival after ceasefire agreement
Israeli Interior Minister Itamar Ben-Giver once again threatened Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he would resign from the cabinet if Hamas remains in power after the ceasefire agreement ends.
Ben-Giver described the situation as a “ticking time bomb” that could lead to a new disaster for Israel.
This threat was raised while the final negotiations for the prisoner exchange and ceasefire are underway in Cairo, and Hamas has agreed to Trump’s plan for the prisoner exchange, but insists on the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces and an end to the war.
Ben-Gweir, the leader of the far-right Jewish Power party, called the agreement a “surrender to Hamas” and called for a complete halt to humanitarian aid to Gaza.
He, who had previously resigned from the regime’s cabinet in January 2025 due to opposition to the ceasefire and then returned, emphasized that the survival of Hamas would destroy the gains of the war and fuel future kidnappings.
