Al-Mayadeen Network reported, citing informed sources, that Qatari and Pakistani mediators are drafting a new memorandum of understanding on the Strait of Hormuz. According to these sources, this document is prepared as an annex to the initial agreement and focuses on managing the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and reducing tensions in this strategic waterway.
At the same time, the Axios website has quoted an American official as claiming that the United States, Iran, and Oman are close to reaching a temporary agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and Washington is trying to announce the agreement.
According to Axios, the agreement includes a 60-day mechanism between Iran and Oman to manage ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, which can be extended. It has also been claimed that during this period, ships will not be charged tolls and specific routes will be considered for vessels to pass through Iranian and Omani waters.
So far, none of the officials in Iran, Oman, Qatar, Pakistan, or the United States have officially confirmed these reports.
