Japan donates $1 million to earthquake victims

The Japanese government announced on Sunday  that it has allocated $1 million in urgent assistance to the World Food Programme (WFP) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to support victims of the recent earthquake in eastern Afghanistan.

The Japanese Embassy in Afghanistan wrote on its X-page that the aid is intended to provide immediate services to earthquake victims in Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman and Nuristan provinces affected in late August 2025.

Japan reiterated that it will continue to support the people of Afghanistan.

This aid comes as a UN report has reported that 23,000 people have been displaced and 246,000 homes have been damaged in the earthquake, highlighting the urgent need for humanitarian assistance.
