US strikes Venezuelan ship again, Trump says, killing three
US President Donald Trump announced on social media a new attack by the US military on a ship suspected of carrying drugs from Venezuela in international waters.
He announced that three people on board the ship were killed in the attack.
Trump described the ship as belonging to “Venezuelan narco terrorists” and stressed that the aim of the operation was to prevent drugs from entering the United States.
The video released by Trump shows the moment the ship exploded, in which a small boat was hit at sea and burst into flames.
This is the second such attack this month; the previous one in early September left 11 people dead.
The Trump administration sees these actions as part of a broader campaign against Venezuelan drug cartels, including the “Tren de Aragua” group, which is designated a terrorist organization.
