Pakistan PM issues stern warning to India over Indus Water Rights

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, in a strong statement, warned India that any attempt to violate Pakistan’s water rights from the Indus River would be met with a decisive response.

This warning came after the Hague court ruled in favor of Pakistan and prohibited India from unilaterally suspending the Indus Waters Treaty; Sharif said in a firm tone: “You cannot take even a drop of Pakistan’s water.”

If India dares to do so, we will teach them a lesson they will never forget. He also claimed that the Pakistani Air Force has shot down six Indian fighter jets, including four Rafales, in recent clashes.

These statements follow similar warnings to India by Bilawal Bhutto, leader of the Pakistan People’s Party and commander-in-chief of the Pakistani army, and indicate increasing tensions between the two countries over water and border issues.
