In a historic event, the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a “Roadmap to Peace” on Friday, August 8, 2025, during a ceremony at the White House in the presence of US President Donald Trump.
The agreement, designed to end decades of conflict between the two countries, includes a cessation of hostilities, the establishment of diplomatic and trade relations, mutual respect for territorial integrity, and the lifting of restrictions on US defense cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Donald Trump stated at the ceremony: Armenia and Azerbaijan have committed to ending the conflict forever and to beginning trade and diplomatic relations.
Nikol Pashinyan described the signing of the statement as an “important milestone,” saying that the agreement lays the foundations for a new history between the two countries and paves the way for peace, security, and economic cooperation in the South Caucasus.
Ilham Aliyev also called this day a “historic day” and added: “This agreement will create great opportunities for investment, regional prosperity and stability.”
