BRICS expands with 11 new members, US reacts sharply

The BRICS group announced in an official statement the acceptance of 11 new countries as partner members of the organization.

Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Indonesia, Nigeria, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Uganda and Uzbekistan officially joined this economic grouping of Asian, African and Latin American countries.

This action was taken to strengthen economic and political cooperation among member countries and expand BRICS’ influence in the global arena.

In response to this development, US President Donald Trump warned that any country that followed the anti-American policies of the BRICS would face a 10% increase in customs tariffs.

These statements indicate potential tensions between the United States and the BRICS group, which has emerged in recent years as a rival to Western-led economic institutions.

This expansion of BRICS could have significant impacts on global economic cooperation and the balance of power in the international arena.
