Deadly flash floods in Texas kill at least 13 people

According to news sources, heavy rains and devastating floods in three western areas of Austin, the capital of the US state of Texas, have caused a disaster in which at least 13 people have died so far and a number of others, including about 20 children, are missing.

These floods, which threaten children’s summer camps, have raised many concerns.

County Judge Rob Kelly said in a news conference that authorities are doing everything they can to rescue children trapped in the floodwaters.

He added that the exact number of casualties and damage is not yet known, but local media reported the deaths of 13 people, whose identities and ages have not yet been clarified.

According to reports, severe storms in the Kerr and Kendal areas last night caused 125 to 250 millimeters of rain, and the flow of water brought the level of Lake Guadalupe to one of the highest levels on record, and in the town of Kerrville, the water level rose by more than 6 meters in a few hours.
