Pakistan: Talks with Iranian officials were very constructive and positive

The Pakistani army has described the visit of Asim Munir, the commander of the country’s defense forces and army, to Tehran and his talks with high-ranking Iranian officials as very constructive; based on the Pakistani army’s statement, these consultations focused on regional peace, preventing escalation of tensions, and finding solutions to differences through dialogue.

Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has also announced significant progress in talks with the Iranian leadership and said that the two sides are working to reactivate the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” and open the path to resolving differences through negotiations.

According to Pakistani officials, the main focus of these talks was tensions in the West Asian region, preventing the spread of conflicts, and efforts to achieve peace; Asim Munir’s meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezzekian was also evaluated positively.

This visit comes at a time when Pakistan is trying to strengthen its mediation role to reduce tensions and bring the parties back on the path of dialogue.
