China completes construction of world’s largest superconducting magnet for nuclear fusion facility

China has completed the construction of the world’s largest superconducting magnet for use in nuclear fusion facilities.

This magnet weighs 582 tons, is 21 meters long, and is capable of storing about 120 gigajoules of energy.

This magnet is designed to contain and maintain plasma at temperatures exceeding 100 million degrees Celsius, a technology that is considered a key element for the development of future nuclear fusion reactors.
